Anyone can write. See that? I just proved it.
For that matter, anyone can start a blog. I just proved that too. And yet I hope this won’t be just any ol’ blog.
I’m reasonably confident that if I stay focused and on point, others might find my musings worth a few minutes of their time. It’s not “straight man” kind of stuff. More like class-clownish, a distinction I “earned” from my peers at the end of both eighth and ninth grades. All these years later, I still look at and react to the world in pretty much the same way.
Which is to say I find humor in just about everything. I don’t go searching for it; it finds me. When it does, I can’t help but give voice and shape to it. Take politics for example, and the term of “45”. For far too long, mine was one of the angry voices on Facebook that couldn’t zip it, one outrage at a time. Eventually my harangues started wearing thin on me and others, but I still needed a way to vent. That’s when I launched a series of faux “breaking news” bites (you’ll find a selection of my “greatest hits” on this blog). Lo and behold, people found them funny. From that, a few friends suggested I start a blog.
So along came Bob.
What can you expect going forward? Ha, that’s a good one because I’m not completely sure myself. For now, you can count on topics like politics, current events, the world at large, even family stuff. I also plan to explore the humorous side of clinical depression…I’m pretty sure there is one.
Don’t expect essays, though, or how-to information, especially since there’s very little I can do that would be worth sharing. Want to know the correct way to wire an outlet? I’m not your guy. Looking for advice on the correct wine to serve with liver? Don’t make me gag. Want some gift ideas for your wife’s 33rd birthday? I don’t give a shit.
There you have it. A little ol’ blog of my own. Now quit bothering me so I can keep writing.
Pretty cool for a boy!!!?
We all get lucky once in a while.
It’s like I was sitting across from you drinking a scotch and listening to you spew about random thoughts! Brought a tear to my eye! ?
Thanks, Maggie. All these years later, I’m still spewing.
